ee song naaku chala ishtam. Yuvan-Selvaraghavan combo rocks. my favourite telugu song in recent times. ...

I love this one too. Trisha looks so pretty in this song.

Srija

Chiranjeevi's daughter Srija, who is currently making the headlines for all the wrong reasons reminds me one of her namesake, my 10th standard English teacher and an incident related to her.

She joined newly when i was studying 10th. "My name is Srija, I worked in a convent in Ooty previously, i am very strict ... blah, blah..".
She was irritative from day one.

She was not more than 24 yrs old then. Average height, slim, moderate color, spectacles, average looks, average teaching skills. That explains everything, nothing extraordinary about her.

I don't know why she was nick-named "Ooty Beauty". She is definitely not that good looking, not that bad either. I wasn't surprised though, coz, I have a problem in classifying who is super figure and who is sappa figure. Atleast, my friends believe so.

My Maths tuition ends at 9pm. Srija's house is in the way to my house from tuition center. We 3 guys myself, Karthi and SenthilPrabu used to go together daily. One day, we decided to shout her nick-name aloud while crossing her house. The plan was formulated in matter of minutes. We selected 3 names. ooty beauty, Convent Kelavi(pretty contradicting to the other nick-name) and
Srija. Each one selected a name to shout. The execution was perfect. Each one shouted a name, ride the cycle very fast till we reached a safe distance. We all laughed the hell out of each other. Then, rode back to house discussing about the great achievement.

We found that so thrilling that we did the same thing 3 or 4 times within next 4 weeks. As it always happens, we got caught one day. The lady was in the balcony and unaware of this, we shouted as usual. We realized just 2 seconds later that she saw us. The thing is, we got caught at the wrong time with board exam 2 months away and just a week or so away from getting the hall tickets.

With all kind of fear within us, our next plan was, to surrender totally, cry, plead or do whatever to get out of the trouble. To our surprise, we were never enquired. Either she didn't recognise us in the dark or, or,sorry, i don't see any other reason for her not to complain. It was a very lucky escape i must may.

Overall, it was fun. Those were the days.

In musical terms, what is copy and what is inspiration. All i know is Deva copies a lot of songs. Inspiration, according to me is, a smart way of copying and nothing more than that.

I remember seeing an interview of Kamalhassan some years back. The question asked was something about Illayaraja. As usual, he gave a lengthy speech on him(everything true though). At some point he told something similar to this. "Whenever i hear a very good song or very different song from other languages, sometimes i think that it will be great if i had the same song in my movie. Once i asked Illayaraja to include one such song in my movie. He was not very comfortable with that idea. But, in no time, he composed a new song for me, which was in similar lines to the song that i proposed but still had the freshness of a new song. I know i am contradicting myself, but, such is the greatness of Illayaraja.
Kamal sonna ethavathu vishayam irukkum. Getting inspired requires something more than what i thought. So, we will consider his as the benchmark definition for getting inspired.

There is some problem in the website which hosts the songs below. If the songs in the links are totally irrelevant to this post, plz ignore the links.

Now, hear the song below. Is it inspired or copied?
Original Song

Tamil Song

Utter copy. Harris Jeyaraj tries to do a Illayaraja but ends up doing a Deva.

One more copied song. Here you go.
Original Song

Tamil Song

This looks like a more blatant copy than 'June ponal' song.

Dig http://itwofs.com/ to unearth lot more copies and inspirations. There were lot of copied songs from different music directors. I don't have a specific reason why i chose Harris Jayaraj's songs.

My understanding of inspiration and copy was well and fine until i heard this.
Original song:

Tamil Song:

Double blow
1.Even illayaraja copies!!!!!!!!(Must/might be the only song he copied in his whole career, i guess/hope)
2.One of my favourite song is a copy!!!!!

For me, Illayaraja is always the best. When it comes to melodies, variety songs, he is the Emperor. Pretenders, just stay away.

I have a doubt. I searched for a program in Google. I copied the code into my module. I changed all the variable names and function names. Now, is this called a copy or inspiration??

Kireedom

Ajith is easily the worst among current tamil heroes when it comes to script sense and movie selection. Oflate, most of the Ajith Movies i saw were awful. In the first place, i was not able to watch some of his recent flicks completely. In other words, i wasnt able tolerate the movie after some point.

Paramasivan - I couldn't watch after 1.5 hours. The story was very much outdated. When Vijayakanth and Arjun are there to fight the terrorists and save India, why should Ajith also do the same.
Tirupathi - Mudiyala...Gave up after 15 minutes. Probably this is the only movie i quit watching even before the heroine introduction.
Godfather - This time i succeeded in watching the whole film. After seeing all those hype in the orkut communities, i expected the movie to be too good. Movie was good but not that great as it was hyped. Definitely not worth the hype at all.
Alwar - Stopped watching after 45 minutes. Also, came to a conclusion that the 15 minutes of Tirupathi movie i saw was better. My bad, it took 45 minutes of my time to realize that.

Kiredom is definitely umpteen times better than Ajiths recent craps. There is nothing new in the story. Its all about how a single incident and its consequences affects the hero. Atleast a dozen films have come in tamil based on this theme. Dhill, Dhool, Thamizh to name a few.

Ajith.. He has done his part too well. His acting was superb especially when he pleads to the villain gang in one scene. One of the surprising thing about this movie is, there is no punch dialogue from Ajith. Yes, you read it correct, no punch dialogues.
Rajkiran.. Indha aalukku enna aachunnu theriala, he is acting too well nowadays.
Trisha.. Looked stunning, mindblowing, gorgeous. hmmm... hmm. sorry, i ran out of adjectives.
Vivek.. Brings laughter in one or two places. Rest are mokkais.
Music.. Songs are good.

Its an irony that the hero sings "Jeyikum varai vilayaadu" in the beginning and ends up as a loser in the climax. Still, the climax is a daring attempt. Usually, all ends well in tamil movies, but Kireedom is an exception.

A decent movie.
Definitely watchable once.

If there is one quality which the Indian cricket team has mastered over the years, that is grooming new talents. But unfortunately, they groom talents of the opponent team. In 2001, when Australia came to India for a test series, a very little number of cricket followers would have known of this guy called Mathew Hayden. But after the test series was over, almost everyone was aware of Mathew Hayden. If some guy had not known him... then,... well.., the last thing that he knew about cricket was India won world cup in 1983.
119, 28*, 97, 67, 203 - Innings by innings score of Mathew Hayden in that series.

Chanderpaul is one guy who loves to play against India. Playing against India is always a cakewalk for him. You wake him in the midnight and threaten him "score a century tomorrow or else you will be hanged", he would coolly reply "Book me a flight ticket to India tomorrow" and he will get back to sleep. Such is the reputation that the Indian team has created for itself among its peers.

Not to forget Jayasuriya, Younis khan, Damien Martyn and the list continues. Believe me, there is atleast one guy like Mathew Hayden or Chanderpaul in each team except Zimbabwe and Bangladesh who have had their dream series against India..Ooops, did i say Zimbabwe. Andy Flower played a series of his lifetime against India in 2000.
183*, 70, 55, 232* - Bradmanisque, as some would say. He was ruthless against the toothless Indian bowling attack.
And its a matter of time before someone from Bangladesh finds a place in this elite list.

My take on the ongoing series, hmmm. what to say.. our team had shortlisted 3 players as of now. Vaughan, Pieterson, and Strauss. In the last series(2002) it was Vaughan(0, 100, 197, 61, 15, 195, 47*), let us wait and watch, who is the lucky one this time.

Today afternoon, i opened my Google reader to see if anyone have updated their blog. i just had a look at the blogs listed, Elixer of Life(Ganesh), In search of tranquility(Ramak), Its My Turn(Ajay), Reloaded(Jagan), somniloquism(Vatsan). Only then i noticed all the blogs that i have subscribed had an English title. Mine was the odd man out. So, i thought of changing my blog title.
I wasn't able to corelate my blog to any name instantly. I decided to get a random title. I opened the wordweb, just searched randomly. Somehow, i didn't like any of the names that i got. I was too lazy to think of or search for a new title. So, got back to work. But by end of the day, i zeroed out on this name "Mojito". Don't ask me how. So, from now on, the title of this blog is "Mojito".

@Suman: The title you suggested "Vetti Velaikku oru Vilambaram" was very much apt for my blog. But, i want an English title. your suggestion for any other English title will be considered.

99

Had Sachin scored one more run in yesterdays match(scorecard), it would have been the 12th time that India lost a match when Sachin scored a century. Its good that he got out on 99 and so the embarrassing record remains at 11.

SR Tendulkar run out (van Wyk/wicket-keeperBoucher) 99 199 143 12 0 69.23

Coming to the point, he batted 143 balls to get that 99 runs. I would have been much happier if he had scored 30 runs from 30 balls. Its a crime to score just 99 of 143 balls in one day cricket i would say. That too, considering the fact, how aggressively cricket is played nowadays(Avan ava 6 ball's 6 six adikkaraan.).

Before i thittify/polambify further, i like to state that all the above and below are on an assumption that the pitch wasn't very slow and it wasn't a bowling pitch. If Kallis can score 91 of 116 balls, then i can safely assume that the pitch was not slow.

This is what the news dailies has to say about sachins innings.
Time of India - "Though Sachin lost his wicket at the wrong time, it cant dilute the quality of his innings"
---Quality!!! You guys believe so. Not me. TOI, you are better(best???) in covering Page 3 and entertainment section(I love "Hyderabad Times"), but not the sports section. Please change your editor for sports column to someone who writes reliable news(Also, someone who puts more of Sharapova and Sania Mirza pic till Wimbledon is over)

Hindu : "that the old power is, aged 34, steam driven not nuclear, but that he is the equal of any batsman still playing."
---Point rejected, next one please.
Hindu : "Some will see indications that he will soon have to think out his retirement carefully. It is possible to understand this desire to write finis to his career."
---Point accepted

The Indian Express: "Though Tendulkar and Dravid did the repair job, they could not really manage to accelerate the pace of scoring and were held on a tight leash by the all-pace South African attack."
---Nyaayamaana pechu.

Finally, my stand. Its loud and clear. Sachin should retire. He has done a lot already to be remembered for a long long time. Now, he just has to look that all those don't get spoiled. So, the only option is retirement.
